our story

Hey, pals! I’m Lindsy, the proud creator and owner of Animal House Day Care. My journey into the world of dogs really began in 2017 when I adopted my first dog Sabey—a border collie German shorthair mix. As a young woman living on her own in a town renowned for its outdoor adventures, I felt a strong desire to share these experiences with a loyal friend and to experience the unique, unconditional love that dogs offer their owners.

Despite having grown up with dogs, nothing compares to the profound bond formed with your first dog as a young adult. Sabey’s unwavering love and companionship have been a constant source of comfort through the many changes in my life, and I will always treasure the times it was just the two of us. After working as a chemist in a lab for four years, I found that my job increasingly encroached on my personal time, making it difficult to provide Sabey with the care and socialization she deserved. The need for a doggy day care—a place where she could exercise, socialize, and receive affection while I was away—became more pressing than ever.

Seeing the proliferation of doggy day cares in urban areas, I realized there must be a similar demand in our community. Motivated by this insight and driven by my love for Sabey, I decided to take a bold step. I rented a three-car garage and, with the help of some incredibly supportive friends, transformed it into a cozy, inviting doggy day care and boarding facility. Starting with just myself working on weekends and one employee during the week, Sabey and I were delighted with the positive response and the growing number of happy clients.

As the business continued to thrive, I expanded to a three-bay garage across the lot to accommodate more pets and enhance our services. We developed a professional website, engaged a skilled trainer, began issuing detailed report cards and gave owners access to live webcams, organized a variety of fun activities for the dogs and much more. I made the decision to leave my chemical lab job and dedicate myself full-time to Animal House Day Care. This allowed Sabey and I to work together every day, and I began training and mentoring a team of passionate employees eager to make their mark in the industry.

Today, Animal House has blossomed into a vibrant commercial facility, complete with a dedicated team of six employees and a loyal customer base of over 800. Our commitment to excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, and we have forged countless meaningful friendships along the way. When I say that this place, these people, and these dogs mean the world to me, I am speaking from the heart. We care for every pet with the same love and attention we give to our own, and we are deeply grateful to be living out this dream. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
